joburgs firewalker – it is art, but is it appreciated?

As you come off the Queen Elizabeth bridge into Jozi, there it proudly
stands.
All 11 meters of it. An engineering marvel. Its not as gracious at the
nelson Mandela bridge, nor as technical, but I rather like it.
With a glowing blaze on her head, Kentridge fills the space next to the new
taxi rank rather nicely. BUT..
Will the locals appreciate it ?

 And I question who paid for it ? hopefully some banking institution and not
local Government, not when thousands are striking for wages just around the
corner in the square!?

 Art for arts sake.
